about
Name inspired by the DX7 sound, reminiscent of TV's "Doogie Howser M.D." soundtrack. This was a direct-to-recording first take onto the iPad (with little tweaks for timing and a few phrases edited to add harmony or bass notes.) It's my birthday, you'd think I'd give it a different name, Mayube sometime. Sounds from the new free "King of FM" AudioKit app connected as an audio extension via IOS GarageBand.
I wrote and played a lot of music in the 80s on a borrowed DX7 keyboard , recorded poorly on cassette, and it's nice to have that sound right under my hands again. Still looking for how to duplicate the custom tones on a few, but that was already the problem when you were spinning knows and levers, wasn't it.
Recorded over the space of a year, the vivid pop songs on the latest from themme fatale match sugary hooks with diaristic lyrics. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 13, 2022
